U.S. Bank is seeking a Mainframe Automation Engineer that has extensive experience in mainframe system automation technologies. This individual should be self-motivated and driven to help contribute toward the success of our mainframe technology initiatives. This person will work in a team environment supporting multiple systems in a highly redundant and robust mainframe environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience
  • At least 7 years of experience within a total information technology (IT) environment
  • At least 7 years of experience with the design, development and support of technology infrastructure

  • Extensive experience in Mainframe technologies
  • Technical troubleshooting of OPS/MVS issues
  • Complex z/OS Sysplex environments
  • Automating mainframe tasks across our environment.
  • Subject matter expert in: REXX Programming
  • Subject matter expert in: OPS/MVS
  • Subject matter expert in: IPL and shutdown processing
  • Subject matter expert in: Subsystems such as CICS, IMS, JES2, MQ, and DB2
  • Subject matter expert in: HMC operations
  • Subject matter expert in: JCL
  • Knowledge of BMC products.

Responsibilities

  • Create and Maintain OPS/MVS REXX rules, SSM tables, and programs
  • Resolve Automation issues
  • Collaborate with other infrastructure, application, and operations areas on their automation needs.
  • Provide support during z/OS Upgrades
  • Participate in DR recovery and testing
  • Work with vendors for system support and problem resolution
  • Provide 24X7 on-call support as part of a team rotation
  • Ability to learn new automation technologies such as Python, Groovy/Java, and Jenkins Pipelines.
