About The Position

Themis Insight is seeking a Principal Systems Administrator (Linux) to join an Infrastructure team in Laurel, MD. This role supports customer requirements and development team needs across multiple hosting platforms including OpenStack, AWS, and VMWare, focusing exclusively on Linux VMs. The position offers opportunities to learn about the product and specialize in VM Management/DevOps. The ideal candidate will have a strong Linux background, relevant Sys Admin experience, and a continuous learning mindset.

Requirements

  • Fifteen (15) years of experience as a Systems Administrator in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university, or five (5) years of additional SA experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Strong Linux skills, including troubleshooting.
  • Ansible experience or exposure.
  • Experience managing and securing VMs (STE/STN).
  • Active Security+ Certification.
  • TS/SCI with a Polygraph clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform typical Sys Admin tasks such as managing server certificate lifecycles, monitoring VM health, updating software (manually and via YUM repos), and ensuring VMs meet enterprise security requirements.
  • Monitor and manage production Linux VMs, including stand-alone VMs and those within Kubernetes clusters, across various hosting platforms.
  • Collaborate with customers and development teams to support product needs, handling tasks ranging from minor VM name changes to building new clusters.
  • Engage in Dev Ops tasks, including running and maintaining Ansible playbooks for VM updates and monitoring Kubernetes clusters using Rancher or kubectl commands to ensure optimal performance and health.
