The Software organization develops software applications, including integration and test on missiles, launchers, radars, naval systems, fire control and other complex systems. Our precision software and firmware integrate operating systems, device drivers, networking, and control software to bring together sensor, guidance, and flight control processing features to complete the mission. The Software org is made up of several Centers located across the country, responsible for all aspects of the software development lifecycle. Our Principal System Software Integrator is a technical position that works in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment to manage implementation, testing, debugging, and deployment of newly released government furnished Software and Firmware (FPGA) solutions that meet current and next generation autonomous avionics systems’ needs in a production environment. Working with a cross-discipline team, the candidate must have experience in managing configuration, testing, and integration of software for edge or embedded devices and/or subsystems (like telecom, medical, IoT, automotive, or robotics) where hardware operation, time critical function, functional reliability, mission assurance, and safety might be major concerns. The successful candidate will work with Product Owners, Chief Engineers, Management and other IPT members to ensure the integration and deployment of embedded software reliably operates with the intended functions. This position is within the Effectors Center of the Software organization, and is a hybrid role located in Tucson, AZ.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience
  • Experience including at least two of the following: Embedded C++ Software, Embedded Software Security, Software Architecture Design and Implementation
  • Experience with complex systems involving the integration of hardware, firmware, and software
  • Ability to obtain Interim Secret Level U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with external companies through USG customer to support software development
  • Experience developing plans to verify Government Furnished SW/FW (i.e. in laboratory hardware in the loop and factory test equipment)
  • Experience using SW build management tools (e.g. Jira, Git, etc.)
  • Experience verifying software functionality and investigating anomalies
  • Familiarity with layered architectural principles, and their limitations
  • Familiarity with reading electrical schematics and relating it to software function
  • Experience using lab instruments like power-supplies, digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers
  • Experience collaborating with engineering teams to test, troubleshoot and resolve anomalies in support of delivering systems (of various size) involving the integration of hardware and software

Responsibilities

  • Manage configuration control, integration, implementation, testing, and debugging of embedded software within heterogenous systems composed of firmware and hardware
  • Working within a cross-discipline team to ensure successful production integration and high first pass yield rate of acceptance test results in a production environment
  • Understand changes to Government Furnished SW/FW and create a plan to integrate new versions into production flow
  • Coordinate with Raytheon Contracts, USG customer, and external companies to develop a Software/Firmware delivery schedule
  • Obtain documentation from US Government customers and external suppliers (e.g. release notes)
  • Document firsts and risks associated with using new SW/FW at test events
  • Track and update Software/Firmware configurations for incremental development updates and production releases (e.g. drawings, interface control documents, version description documents, test requirements documents, etc.)
  • Understand and document the system topology and messaging across a weapon system
  • Present at technical interchange meetings and quarterly program reviews to internal and external audiences
  • Create Software/Firmware US contract deliverable documents, including periodic reports
