About The Position

As a Principal Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE), you will ensure supplier compliance with quality, technical, contractual, and regulatory requirements for nuclear new plant and operating fleet programs. Being the primary quality SME for assigned suppliers, you will oversee supplier qualification, audits, surveillance, product acceptance, quality documentation, and corrective actions throughout the procurement lifecycle. You will partner with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve issues, monitor performance, drive continuous improvement, and ensure the delivery of compliant, high-quality products and services. This is a remote position based in the United States. Travel of 30–40% both domestic and international is required for this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in Supplier Quality, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Quality, or Nuclear Quality.
  • Experience conducting supplier audits, surveillance, and assessments with both domestic and international suppliers.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001–based quality systems

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of nuclear quality standards (NQA 1, 10 CFR 50 App B, 10 CFR 21, ASME Section III).
  • Experience supporting major mechanical equipment (e.g., heavy forgings, pressure vessels, cranes, modules, and rotating equipment).
  • Lead Auditor qualification (NQA 1 or equivalent).
  • Prior experience in nuclear new plant or large capital projects.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the SME in quality interface between suppliers and internal stakeholders regarding quality requirements, surveillance activities, and product acceptance.
  • Develop and Review quality requirements included in purchase requisitions and purchase orders prior to supplier issuance.
  • Lead supplier quality evaluations, audits, surveys, and technical assessments following Westinghouse procedures and nuclear quality requirements.
  • Lead supplier qualification and maintenance on the Qualified Supplier List (QSL), including scope verification and ongoing compliance.
  • Complete supplier oversight activities including witness and hold points, inspections, and surveillance at supplier facilities.
  • Ensure supplier Quality Assurance Programs comply with applicable standards such as ASME NQA 1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, ASME Section III, and applicable customer/regulatory requirements.
  • Review and Develop supplier quality plans, procedures, inspection and test plans, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Provide guidance on technical and quality reviews of procurement requisitions and change notices.
  • Review, approve, and maintain Quality Assurance Data Packages (QADP) for safety-related and quality-affecting procurements.
  • Evaluate objective evidence to determine product acceptability and authorize shipment through issuance of Quality Releases (QRs) and Contingent Quality Releases (CQRs).
  • Verify satisfactory completion of repairs and corrective actions prior to approval of applicable deviation notices and dispositions.
  • Generate Certificates of Conformance and other quality acceptance documentation required for customer delivery.
  • Lead and drive supplier nonconformance resolution, including issuance and closure of Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs).
  • Create root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and effectiveness reviews.
  • Lead and handle quality issues and support risk mitigation strategies.
  • Bring together and lead cross-functional teams involving Engineering, Procurement, Project Management, Manufacturing, and Operations to resolve supplier issues and ensure on time, compliant delivery.
  • Support supplier development programs to improve quality performance and capability.
  • Monitor supplier quality performance metrics and trends.
  • Review and create reports from lower engineers and provide status updates to Supply Chain and Quality leadership.
