About The Position

The Principal Supplier Assurance Specialist is a hands‑on contributor responsible for supporting end‑to‑end ownership of supplier manufacturing output and strengthening supplier performance through structured diagnostics, readiness assessments, and targeted corrective actions. This role focuses on manufacturing and quality issue identification, verifying process capability, supporting recovery activities, and reinforcing supplier process discipline. The position requires regular onsite presence at supplier facilities to perform assessments, validate processes, and help drive a performance‑oriented culture. Supporting our international supply base requires Suppliers Assurance Team to demonstrate significant flexibility and adaptability. They are expected to adapt to unexpected changes in demand and shifting priorities, adjusting their areas of responsibility accordingly. This position involves support of suppliers outside the United States in the Arctic region (North America, South America, UK, Denmark, and Scandinavian region).

Requirements

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum five (5) years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum three (3) years' experience.
  • Experience with either manufacturing engineering, supplier quality, or a related technical role.
  • Experience working with PFMEA, SPC, capability analysis (Cpk/Ppk), GD&T, AS9100/ISO9001, FAI processes, APQP, statistical analysis, and or conduct source on Raytheon hardware at the supplier.
  • U.S. Citizen - Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, or other precision manufacturing environments.
  • Hands‑on experience with tooling assessments, gage R&R, or control‑plan auditing.
  • Exposure to capacity analysis, OEE evaluation, or bottleneck mapping.
  • Lean/Six Sigma training or certification (White/Yellow/Green Belt).
  • Experience coaching entry‑level supplier engineering or quality staff.
  • Strong aptitude for structured problem solving and manufacturing process improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform technical diagnostics, validate process capability, and identify root causes across equipment, process flow, and quality systems
  • Ability to analyze basic operational indicators (cycle time, OEE inputs, scrap trends, labor patterns) and connect them to technical performance gaps.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly convey assessment findings and influence operator‑level and supervisor‑level behaviors.
  • Ability and willingness to work onsite at supplier locations regularly.
  • Demonstrated interest in contributing to and reinforcing a performance‑driven culture centered on consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience supporting structured RCCA (8D, 5‑Why) with measurable effectiveness.
  • Knowledge of Government Source Inspection on Raytheon hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Support end‑to‑end evaluation of supplier manufacturing performance through onsite diagnostics of processes, equipment, tooling, flow, and quality systems.
  • Execute readiness and capability assessments including FAI reviews, PFMEA audits, SPC capability checks, cycle‑time validation, bottleneck analysis, and Run‑at‑Rate support.
  • Conduct technical troubleshooting to identify root causes of quality escapes, yield issues, and production instability.
  • Maintain supplier readiness documentation, capability data, RCCA evidence, and capacity models.
  • Assist with corrective and preventive action execution using structured problem‑solving tools such as 8D, 5‑Why, and fishbone analysis.
  • Provide targeted coaching to supplier operators, technicians, and quality personnel to reinforce process discipline, standard work, and basic problem‑solving expectations.
  • Participate in program and operations reviews by providing clear updates on yield, stability, bottlenecks, and schedule risk.
  • Support the development of early performance plans and help suppliers adopt improved work practices and basic performance culture behaviors.
  • Escalate technical issues, capacity constraints, and quality risks, integrating both operational and basic financial indicators (scrap trends, labor efficiency, overtime signals).
  • Understand and follow all EXIM requirements by Command Media.
  • Ability to travel 50 - 60% of time to supplier locations, as needed.
