About The Position

Perform structural analysis on spacecraft, instruments, payloads, optics, mechanisms, and ground support equipment. Use closed form and finite element analysis techniques in stress analysis and structural dynamics. Develop loads and environments for structure and components. Support structural and environmental testing for static, modal, acoustic, shock, and vibration. Write detailed reports for test and analysis activities. Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule. Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment. Perform other duties as necessary.

Requirements

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 6 or more years related experience.
  • Nastran experience with static, modal, buckling, and frequency response.
  • The ability to support multiple efforts and manage competing priorities.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience.
  • Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education.
  • Proficiency preferred in the following areas: o General Software: Simcenter, FEMAP, LS-Dyna, Abaqus, MATLAB, Adams, Solidworks, Python o FEM Applications: Explicit, Transient, Nonlinear, Multibody Dynamics, Line of Sight, and Jitter
  • Structural Analysis: Bolted and Bonded Joints, Welds, Electronics, Antennas, Fracture and Fatigue
  • Materials: Composites, Ceramics, and other high temperature materials
  • A Master of Science Degree in a structures related field is preferred.
