About The Position

Workday is looking for a Principal Strategist to support in developing the vision, strategy, and objectives of the Finance Operations and Spend Management organization. Blending skills in analytics, planning, and consulting, this role will serve as a trusted advisor to leaders within the organization to inform strategic planning decisions. This role will report into the Senior Director of Procure-to-Pay Strategy and Operations.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional experience with growing levels of responsibility and a proven track record of leading transformational change.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business, or equivalent degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experienced problem-solver able to delve into operational tactics while engaging meaningfully on the "big picture".
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong presence in front of senior executives and the ability to distill complex thoughts into actionable recommendations.
  • Deep understanding of the Source-to-Pay process and the ability to identify dependencies between complex programs and determine their impact.
  • Proactive and result-oriented, driven by intellectual curiosity to propose novel approaches and meet critical deliverables.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, or strategy and business operations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the procurement strategic planning cycle, including the development and tracking of Objectives and Key Results (OKRs), benchmarking, and target setting to ensure alignment with long-term business outcomes.
  • Serve as the owner for Policy and Process Management, overseeing procurement policies and guidelines, standard operating procedures, and internal websites to ensure a thorough understanding and execution of Source-to-Pay dependencies.
  • Drive organizational performance by owning Finance Operations and Spend Management metrics, coordinating Quarterly Business Reviews, monitoring customer satisfaction, and overseeing all internal and external operational reporting.
  • Drive budget management through fiscal year planning, renewal management, invoice tracking and team T&E strategy.
  • Partner closely with the Finance Transformation Office to align organizational initiatives with enterprise-wide goals while leveraging experience with global teams to develop and execute a comprehensive global location strategy.
