A Day in the Life As a Principal Strategic Sourcing Specialist – Global Hotel Category, you will be a key member of Medtronic’s center-led Indirect Supply Management (ISM) team, reporting to the Sr. Sourcing Manager of Corporate Services. You will lead the global Hotel category within our Travel & Meetings team. This critical role will drive the strategy, sourcing, negotiation, and management of hotel contracts to support Medtronic’s business travel, events, and meetings worldwide. You will bring your expertise in hotel sourcing, passion for supplier partnerships, cost optimization, and delivering value to stakeholders. The opportunities to create value within this ~$125M category are limitless, and we are seeking a candidate who thrives on generating new value and opportunities in the Indirect Sourcing-Corporate Services space. You will bring your demonstrated history of quickly identifying new opportunities, establishing and building relationships in a matrixed environment, working collaboratively to ensure team performance, and successfully influencing various stakeholders at all levels. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with minimum of 7 years of relevant experience OR An advanced degree with minimum of 5 years of relevant experience

  • Demonstrated experience in building and executing successful strategies in Hotel Spend Management
  • Ability to influence teams and external suppliers to deliver results
  • Highly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI

  • Demonstrated strength in analytical skills
  • Global Category Management experience (Strategy development and execution in accordance to Strategic Sourcing methodology)

Responsibilities

  • Identify strategies across the entire Hotel portfolio that utilize multiple levers to drive sustainable and incremental value, optimizing Hotel spend
  • Develop and execute global hotel category strategies that align with Medtronic’s business objectives and travel and meeting policies
  • Lead end-to-end sourcing processes including market analysis, RFP development, supplier selection, contract negotiation, and implementation
  • Build strategic relationships with internal stakeholders/leadership and critical suppliers
  • Engage and influence global cross functional stakeholders to adopt and implement strategies developed by the category team; Medtronic is a highly matrixed organization and having the ability to influence and leverage the matrix is a key requirement
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies that result in a sustainable competitive advantage
  • Demonstrate Market Intelligence and share trends to ensure Medtronic is at the forefront of the Hotel industry
  • Leverage data and analytics to create spend management recommendations
  • Partner closely with key functions that support supply management (e.g., legal, finance, employee expense)
  • Drive supplier performance management, including KPIs, SLAs, and quarterly business reviews.
  • Recommend solutions to business problems and/or identify opportunities for improvement, and present ideas to leadership
  • Educate on key indirect supply management initiatives and policies
