About The Position

Northrop Grumman's Defense Systems sector is looking for a Principal / Sr. Principal Mechanical Engineer located in Roy, UT. The position may be filled at either level depending on applicant experience relevant to the role. As a Mechanical Design Engineer supporting the SDS Support Equipment team, you will be responsible for coordinating with suppliers, reviewing designs, and integrating with other NG integrated product teams to ensure adherence to, and implementation of requirements. You will actively participate in design reviews, research, plan, design and develop mechanical products and solutions. Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail are critical to being successful in this position. The standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Requirements

  • Principal Mechanical Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and with 5 years of experience; or Master's degree with 3 years of experience; PhD with 1 years of experience
  • Sr Principal Mechanical Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and with 8 years or experience; or Master's degree with 6 years of experience; PhD with 4 years of experience
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years
  • Ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP)
  • Experience performing CAD modeling with design tools such as Siemens NX or similar
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of tools - Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word
  • Experience performing mechanical design efforts on MILCON, major infrastructure/building projects, or Aerospace and Defense programs
  • Ability to understand and interpret requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal, written communication, and presentation skills, including the ability to clearly and succinctly communicate complex concepts
  • Exposure to missiles program requirements & with propulsion
  • Proficient with 3D design/2D drawing CAD in NX
  • Proficient with PDM and/or CPLM
  • Proficient with GD&T and ASME Y14.5-2009
