About The Position

As a Principal Specialist, Investment Associate, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative organizations and people around the world. You will support exploration, identification, diligence and execution of investment opportunities in support of RTX Ventures. The role will report directly to the Investment Principal, and will work collaboratively with the entire RTX Ventures team to support the full life cycle and success of our portfolio.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years of transactional or strategy experience (e.g., VC/CVC, top-tier investment bank, business/corporate development role, consulting) prior relevant experience, or an advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience
  • Analytical and financial modeling skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Aerospace and defense domain knowledge.
  • Transactional experience – M&A, joint ventures, minority investments, partnerships, etc.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA and/or advanced technology degree.
  • Creativity and strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with financial data services (S&P Capital IQ, Pitchbook).
  • Strong ability/experience in developing relationships; able to develop credibility and earn respect with individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to quickly identify, understand and manage organizational impacts of business strategy and process change.
  • Proven ability to listen, negotiate, influence and persuade others.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the entire investment process, including mapping investment trends, drafting presentation and briefing materials, and conducting financial and technical analysis.
  • Support the leadership team with deal sourcing, due diligence, business modeling, and in developing and managing opportunity pipeline.
  • Collecting market intelligence at industry events, and conducting market research via public sources and third-party service providers.
  • Coordinating diligence activities with corporate and Business Unit functional resources.
  • Support portfolio analysis, which involves assessing capabilities, technologies and financial metrics against strategy and market opportunities.
  • Support the preparation of senior-level briefings, which involves summarizing and communicating insights at the right level from detailed analyses.
  • Maintain productive working relationships with relevant corporate and business unit functions at RTX (Technology, Strategy, Finance, Legal, Digital) who might collaborate on and contribute to key venture investments.
  • Work on multiple projects while providing clear thinking and hands-on guidance to cross-functional team members in a collaborative work environment.
