The Land and Air Defense Systems (LADS) Strategic Business Unit (SBU) has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Specialist, Contracts within the Medium Range Air Defense (MRAD) program area which consists of both Foreign Military Sale (FMS) and Direct Commercial Sales (DCS) contracts. This candidate will play an integral role as a member of the program team, focusing on Contract proposals, negotiation, execution and closeout. This role will support contracts within MRAD for the production, integration, technical assistance, and sustainment of the NASAMS® system. In this role, you will be responsible for cradle to grave contract administration, change management, coordination of invoicing, fulfillment of contract requirements in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and customer specifications. You will need to utilize regular application of thorough business acumen and subject matter expertise to understand program performance requirements, provide guidance, and influence results in support of program and financial objectives. Additionally, the Principal Specialist, Contracts will coordinate closely with Program Management leadership, the Office of General Counsel, and cross-functional peers in support of program gate reviews, program management reviews, business strategy sessions, proposal reviews, risk management activities, and all other contractual related matters affecting the portfolio.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
  • Experience with one or more of the following: Contracts Administration, Subcontracts Administration, Program/Project Management, Estimating and Pricing (E&P) or Supply Chain Management (SCM)
  • Experience with U.S. Government contracts under the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and/or the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS)
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

  • Experience with Terms and Conditions risk analysis and negotiation
  • Ability to understand the financial aspects of contracts and risk quantification

  • Advise and/or represent the organization on contract negotiation and administration matters
  • Provide sound contract management to meet customer obligations, achieve company objectives and comply with company policies
  • Effectively manage contractual scope and terms and conditions to ensure work is performed to the overall contract scope
  • Develop and enhance positive customer relationships for working contractual matters to resolution
  • Draft, interpret, and manage contract documents in support of Contracts and the Business Unit
  • Leverage excellent relationships with Program Managers, Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain, and other functions to drive closure on complex contractual issues and achieve business results
