About The Position

LMI is seeking a Principal Solutions Architect to shape the technical direction of a U.S. Army technology modernization program. This role will connect mission requirements with practical architecture across commercial software, cloud, data, cybersecurity, and user-facing applications. The Principal Solutions Architect will work directly with customer leaders and engineering teams, owning technical decisions from strategy through implementation. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Ten or more years of experience in solutions architecture, software architecture, systems engineering, or technology modernization.
  • Broad technical experience across SaaS products, cloud platforms, enterprise data, software delivery, and cybersecurity.
  • Demonstrated ownership of architecture for a complex production system or platform.
  • Experience working directly with engineering teams and senior customer stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting a Department of Defense customer.
  • Strong technical writing, briefing, and decision-making skills.
  • Active Secret clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting the U.S. Army.
  • Familiarity with Army enterprise technology, cybersecurity, and data requirements.
  • Experience supporting Army acquisition or soldier-systems organizations.
  • Familiarity with PEO Soldier or Soldier Clothing and Individual Equipment programs.
  • Experience with AWS, Palantir Foundry, Army Vantage, or comparable platforms.
  • Relevant cloud, cybersecurity, architecture, or systems-engineering certification.

Responsibilities

  • Own the target architecture and technical roadmap for an integrated mission platform.
  • Translate mission and business requirements into executable technical approaches.
  • Evaluate commercial platforms and determine how they should integrate with Army systems and environments.
  • Lead architecture reviews and resolve cross-cutting technical decisions.
  • Guide engineering teams on scalability, security, interoperability, and sustainment.
  • Develop prototypes or technical validation when needed to reduce delivery risk.
  • Explain complex technical decisions and tradeoffs to senior technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
