About The Position

Ulteig is searching for a talented Principal Solution Architect who is passionate about solving complex, high-impact technical challenges through the design and architecture of scalable, maintainable, and high-performing solutions. This role will join the Digital Transformation group and partner closely with software engineering, product, program, and domain engineering teams to define, evolve, and improve software applications and solutions across the enterprise. This individual will serve as a critical bridge between software engineers and engineering domain teams—articulating technical needs, aligning architecture decisions, and accelerating the delivery of high-quality solutions. The role will shape the structure, design, and lifecycle of applications, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards while enabling agile, efficient delivery. By combining architecture strategies with hands-on development and collaboration, this role drives consistency, quality, and performance across the application and solution landscape while helping teams move faster and deliver greater client value. This role reports to the Director of Digital Software Engineering and resides within the Digital Transformation group.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in software development, software architecture, or related technical leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated experience defining and implementing application and solution architectures in complex enterprise environments.
  • Proven experience establishing technical standards, architecture frameworks, governance processes, and engineering best practices across multiple teams.
  • Experience leading large-scale, cross-functional initiatives with significant organizational impact.
  • Ability to influence technical direction and decision-making across business units, delivery teams, and leadership groups.
  • Experience partnering with business leaders and enterprise stakeholders to align technology strategy with organizational objectives.
  • Recognized technical expertise with the ability to serve as a trusted advisor beyond immediate project or delivery teams.
  • Experience with modern DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Deep analytical and systems-thinking capabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience with C#, .NET, JavaScript/TypeScript, xUnit, Python, or equivalent technologies.
  • Strong understanding of application architecture patterns, including layered architectures, microservices, event-driven systems, and distributed applications.
  • Strong cross-discipline and cross-group collaboration skills.
  • Ability to operate with a growth mindset within a highly engaged team.
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Previous architecture experience within a software delivery organization.
  • Demonstrates openness to innovation by embracing and applying evolving technology and AI tools to enhance workflows, solve problems, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Must have authorization to work permanently in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Define the overall vision for enterprise solutions and digital products.
  • Define architecture standards + governance + best practices
  • Define and own the architecture for enterprise and product applications across the portfolio.
  • Establish, maintain, and evolve application architecture standards, frameworks, reference architectures, and enterprise-wide technical approaches.
  • Ensure design patterns, standards, and best practices (e.g., layering, modularity, API design, resiliency, security, observability) are defined, communicated, and consistently followed.
  • Ensure applications are designed for performance, reliability, security, extensibility, and long-term sustainability.
  • Conduct architectural reviews and provide governance over application design decisions, technical approaches, and key deliverables across teams.
  • Lead large-scale, cross-functional technology initiatives that span business units and support strategic organizational objectives.
  • Thought leadership + trusted advisor + mentorship
  • Partner with business leaders, product managers, and engineering stakeholders to align technology investments with business priorities and long-term enterprise goals.
  • Drive strategic technology decisions that shape the future direction of Ulteig's digital products, platforms, and engineering capabilities.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and recognized technical authority across the organization, providing mentorship and guidance to architects, engineers, and technical leaders.
  • Contributes to a highly collaborative team atmosphere.
  • Contribute hands-on to application development when needed.
