About The Position

SAIC is seeking a motivated, career- and customer-oriented Principal Software Tester to perform high-level, day-to-day software testing. This is a 100% remote role. The tester develops and executes test plans, schedules, cases, scripts, and procedures to ensure information systems meet organizational standards and end-user requirements. The role leads software and IT systems testing, performs verification activities, documents and communicates results, supports analysis and issue resolution, and reports progress to management. It also develops improvements to testing procedures, creates daily test metrics and reports, and may occasionally support other IT systems engineering activities. The position works under general direction, independently determines approaches to solutions, contributes to programs and projects, and represents the organization in resolving difficult technical issues with project stakeholders and customers.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree and 10 or more years of experience, or master's degree and 3 or more years of experience.
Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Proficiency in writing and executing test cases, test scripts, and test plans.
Experience with both manual and automated testing.
Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions and version control systems such as Git or SVN.
Understanding of performance testing and tools such as JMeter or Gatling.
Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript.
Experience with defect tracking and management tools such as JIRA or Bugzilla.
Experience testing COTS products.
Understanding of security testing practices and tools.
Knowledge of functional, regression, integration, system, usability, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
Experience with test management tools.
Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools.
Strong understanding of risk-based testing, exploratory testing, and context-driven testing.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; strong communication and collaboration abilities; ability to work independently and as part of a team; attention to detail; and commitment to high-quality work.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and translate business requirements into effective test scenarios.
US citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Nice To Haves

Advanced testing or quality assurance certification, such as ISTQB, CSTE, or CSQA.
Edifecs certification and experience.
Familiarity with cloud-based testing platforms such as AWS or Azure.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute test plans, schedules, test cases, scripts, and procedures.
Identify data for test scenarios and conduct test case and script walkthroughs with Test Managers, Requirement Leads, Project Managers, and Development Leads.
Perform and lead software and IT systems testing to verify proper operation and identify defects.
Perform verification activities on work products using defined methods, procedures, criteria, and an appropriate verification environment.
Document and communicate test results, support their analysis, and help resolve open issues.
Document and work to resolve complex problems, and report resolution progress to management.
Improve current procedures and develop models of possible future configurations.
Create daily test metrics and reports.
Occasionally perform other IT systems engineering activities, including requirements, design, installation, operation, sustainment, and support.
Provide technical solutions to difficult project issues and contribute to completion of programs and projects.
Provide direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance.
Conduct test reviews and provide constructive feedback.
