This role involves defining and driving the strategic direction for frontend engineering practices, tooling, and skillset across the organization. The engineer will lead the development of accessible, performant, and user-centered web applications for government customers, serving as the technical authority for frontend architecture and engineering excellence. Responsibilities include designing and implementing modern frontend architectures, development pipelines, and deployment infrastructure, delivering new features with a focus on user experience and accessibility compliance (Section 508, WCAG). Collaboration with product managers to balance UI/UX with implementation effort, building and maintaining component libraries, design systems, and shared frontend infrastructure are key. The role also involves identifying opportunities to modernize the frontend stack, establishing and championing frontend best practices, mentoring engineers, and influencing technical decisions across teams. Full-stack work may be required, but frontend is the primary focus.
