About The Position

The Principal Software Engineer, Mobile Platform will define the architecture and technical direction for an enterprise mobile platform used by product teams across FIS to build secure, scalable financial applications. The role leads engineering across native iOS, native Android, and React Native, establishing reusable capabilities, standards, and delivery practices. It addresses complex platform challenges and influences mobile strategy across engineering, product, security, and operations, enabling teams to deliver reliable, accessible, high-performing mobile experiences efficiently. The engineer will guide mobile framework strategy, including native versus cross-platform approaches as AI-assisted development evolves. The role includes designing shared frameworks, libraries, services, and developer tooling; improving development and release practices; and partnering with product, design, security, and platform teams. It also involves coaching senior engineers and technical leads and strengthening mobile engineering practices across the organization.

Requirements

Extensive experience architecting and delivering complex, production-grade mobile applications.
Advanced expertise in at least one native platform, Swift or Kotlin, with working depth in the other.
Experience with React Native.
Proven engineering leadership across mobile architecture, platform strategy, and technical standards.
Experience implementing mobile continuous integration and delivery pipelines, including Bitrise.
Deep knowledge of mobile security, accessibility, performance, testing, observability, and release management.
Hands-on experience with AI coding tools and a point of view on how they change mobile engineering.
Degree in Computer Science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice To Haves

Experience developing mobile platforms or applications within banking, payments, or financial services.
Experience releasing and maintaining applications through the Apple App Store and Google Play.
Knowledge of iPadOS, macOS, and the broader Apple development ecosystem.
Experience integrating mobile applications with APIs, identity platforms, and cloud-based services.
Familiarity with secure software development practices for regulated financial environments.
Experience with mobile app integrity and attestation, including Apple App Attest and Google Play Integrity, and secure secrets handling.

Responsibilities

Define architecture and technical strategy for enterprise mobile platforms and applications.
Lead evaluation of FIS’s mobile framework strategy, including native versus cross-platform approaches as AI-assisted development changes the tradeoffs.
Establish standards for native iOS, native Android, and React Native development.
Design reusable frameworks, libraries, services, and developer tooling for mobile engineering teams.
Guide application architecture using Swift, Kotlin, and modern React Native patterns.
Lead decisions involving security, privacy, scalability, accessibility, and application performance.
Establish continuous integration and delivery capabilities using Bitrise and complementary automation tools.
Improve automated testing, code quality, observability, and release reliability across mobile applications.
Guide application signing, provisioning, and releases through Apple and Google application stores.
Partner with product, design, security, and platform teams to deliver consistent mobile experiences.
Partner with Design to deliver the design system’s mobile components and tokens.
Evaluate AI-assisted capabilities that improve mobile development, testing, and operational workflows.
Lead resolution of complex architecture, integration, performance, and production reliability challenges.
Coach senior engineers and technical leads while strengthening mobile engineering practices.
