About The Position

Join BAE Systems’ Countermeasure & Electromagnetic Attack Solutions (CEMA) business area where we provide next-generation threat detection and countermeasure solutions to provide unparalleled electronic warfare capabilities to enhance mission survivability. Our team leverages industry leading EO/IR and RF technologies to advance multi-platform detection, tracking, and defeat of incoming threats to support aircraft, ground vehicle, and maritime survivability. Our team uses advanced machine learning-based algorithms to enable fast adaption for new and emerging threats for airborne, land, and maritime products. We are looking for talented Principal Level Software engineers to support analyzing, developing, and coding complex software with applications to EO/IR technologies. You will be an integrated team member, collaborating with Systems, Hardware, and Test engineers in one or more of the phases of Project Planning, Requirements Development, Design, Development, Integration and Testing. You will prepare design and project documentation intended to be used within complex programs or across sets of programs in accordance with established processes. We will provide you with opportunities to learn, leverage our current technologies, incorporate new technologies, and make an impact within the larger engineering team. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field, and minimum of 6 years work experience or equivalent experience; or a Master’s degree plus a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Current Secret Security Clearance (active within 2 years)
  • Machine Learning and/or Algorithm development
  • Embedded software development or software application development experience
  • Experience with software engineering processes, methodologies, and tools
  • Extensive background in embedded and/or application software development in one or more: C++, Python, Java
  • Object-Oriented language proficiency
  • Software algorithm development and optimization

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
  • Previous experience with Electro-Optical/Infrared Image processing
  • Previous experience in technical/project team leadership
  • Experience performing software testing, validation, and verification activities
  • Experience with algorithm development and optimization in C++, CUDA, or Open CL

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing, designing, coding and code modification (typically in C++) of complex software and algorithm designs for simple systems or subsystems or subsystems of larger systems.
  • Evaluate complex software designs to identify design flaws.
  • Establish communication to keep management informed of the function’s progress and results.
  • Use existing processes and evolve processes to utilize the most effective new techniques as they become available, assuring the use of methodologies which minimize both design cost and product cost.
  • Provide, directly or indirectly, top level technical leadership for the assigned design discipline(s) including selection and exploitation of promising new technologies, long-term goals, etc.
  • Ensure effective communication between assigned engineers and all other participants in the design process.
  • Subject Matter Expertise in Algorithm Design with Electro-optical Infra-red or related technologies.
