About The Position

As a Principal Software Engineer at Walmart, you will lead the design and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, including cloud-native architectures and AI/ML frameworks, to support long-term technical evolution. This role involves driving full lifecycle software development across multiple teams, ensuring high availability and reliability of distributed systems. About the team: The Global Marketplace Walmart Fulfillment Services Billing team develops and maintains high-scale backend systems that manage invoices, incentives, and adjustments with a focus on accuracy, reliability, and operational quality. The team drives scalable, resilient solutions supporting business growth and efficiency. It emphasizes architectural excellence, adoption of modern technologies including AI and automation, and continuous improvement. Collaborating closely with product teams and engineers, the team fosters strong technical leadership and innovation to deliver reliable infrastructure that meets evolving business needs in a distributed engineering environment.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in platform engineering, delivering scalable, cloud-native architectures and reusable tooling.
• Proven expertise in designing and implementing distributed systems optimized for real-time data processing and AI/ML integration.
• Strong proficiency in software development lifecycle management, including CI/CD pipelines, testing, and observability.
• Demonstrated ability to apply model-driven design and leverage AI agents to enhance software solutions.
• Skilled in technical leadership, mentoring, and driving architectural decisions across multiple teams.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills to engage cross-functional stakeholders and align technical strategies.
• Commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, and maintaining high-quality standards in software delivery.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
• 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
• Creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
