About The Position

The Principal Software Engineer leads platform engineering efforts by delivering scalable, cloud-native solutions and reusable infrastructure components. This role drives the full software development lifecycle, integrating AI/ML technologies to build intelligent systems that serve millions. About the team: The Fintech Disputes & Exceptions Management Engineering group delivers precise resolution of payment discrepancies within Walmart’s Finance Tech ecosystem. The team develops and maintains tools that enhance collaboration between internal teams and external suppliers, leveraging automation to minimize manual efforts. Focused on continuous improvement and operational excellence, the group supports Walmart’s goals by ensuring accurate and timely dispute management. This team values strong technical skills in software development, problem solving, and iterative delivery to build reliable solutions that improve financial processes and contribute to business success.

Requirements

Extensive experience in platform engineering leadership, delivering scalable and reusable infrastructure components.
Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture and distributed system design ensuring high availability and fault tolerance.
Strong proficiency in AI/ML integration, including building intelligent software systems and AI agents.
Demonstrated ability to lead full software development lifecycle, including CI/CD, testing, and incident response.
Skilled in technical solution design, model-driven design, and applying engineering design processes.
Proficient in programming languages such as Java and JavaScript frameworks like React Redux.
Effective mentor and technical leader, fostering engineering excellence and innovation across teams.
Strong collaboration and communication skills with cross-functional stakeholders to define and deliver business-driven solutions.
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
