About The Position

The Principal Software Engineer will help modernize Microsoft Advertising’s Campaign Management platform, which enables advertisers to create, manage, analyze and optimize campaigns across Microsoft’s advertising ecosystem. The platform includes services, APIs, data pipelines and web applications. The multi-year modernization effort includes moving to cloud-native services, re-architecting core campaign workflows, adding AI-powered capabilities and improving engineering productivity. This is a hands-on, end-to-end engineering role spanning backend services, APIs, data storage and processing, and customer-facing applications. The engineer will lead high-impact feature and platform designs and implementations, owning work from data model and service design through deployment and live-site operations. They will improve the scalability, reliability, latency and cost efficiency of systems handling large volumes of advertiser data and transactions, while advancing AI-enabled engineering practices and partnering with engineering, product and design teams to deliver durable improvements for advertisers worldwide. Employees who live within a 50-mile commute of a designated Microsoft Hub in the U.S. are expected to work from the office at least four days per week, subject to local law and jurisdictional variation.
