ZoomInfo Technologies LLC•Washington, DC
•$163,800 - $257,400•Remote

About The Position

ZoomInfo is hiring a Principal Software Engineer as a hands-on, high-impact individual contributor and senior technical force multiplier across Platform Engineering’s Integrations, Workflows & Orchestration, and Data Management teams. The role rotates among teams according to where support is most needed, such as major initiatives, technical debt, reliability problems, or new areas of work. The engineer will lead through influence rather than authority, set technical direction, improve engineering practices, and help Managers, engineers, and Product turn ambiguity into well-architected, delivered solutions. The position reports directly to the Senior Director of Software Engineering and works closely with three Engineering Leaders and their teams. The supported areas include connectors and APIs that integrate ZoomInfo with customer platforms; event-driven workflows and orchestration; and data quality capabilities such as deduplication, standardization, enrichment, verification, and privacy compliance. The role includes designing and evolving scalable, fault-tolerant architectures, responding to high-severity incidents, modernizing platforms, shaping multi-quarter roadmaps, evaluating build-versus-buy decisions, and mentoring engineers. The US base salary range is $163,800–$257,400, with additional compensation such as bonus, commission, equity, and benefits potentially applicable. ZoomInfo describes its benefits as comprehensive and says it offers holistic mind, body, and lifestyle programs for overall well-being.

  • Strong proficiency in Java (Spring Boot) and/or Node.js (NestJS).
  • Experience building or owning integrations or connectors with CRM, marketing automation, sales engagement, or data warehouse platforms such as Salesforce, HubSpot, Marketo, or Snowflake, or similar platforms.

  • Strong track record leading platform modernization, reliability, and observability initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting to executive leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures and streaming technologies such as Kafka, and workflow orchestration platforms such as Temporal, Google Cloud Workflows, or Airflow.
  • Working knowledge of data quality practices, including deduplication, standardization, enrichment, and GDPR/CCPA compliance.
  • Experience with API strategy, webhooks, partner/ISV integration programs, and no-code/low-code workflow builders.

Responsibilities

  • Embed on a rotating basis with Integrations, Workflows & Orchestration, and Data Management teams, writing production-quality code and unblocking difficult technical problems.
  • Define and evolve scalable, fault-tolerant, event-driven architecture using Java/Spring Boot, Node.js/NestJS, Kafka, and workflow orchestration platforms such as Temporal or Google Cloud Workflows.
  • Lead response and root-cause analysis for high-severity incidents and systemic reliability issues.
  • Drive platform modernization by consolidating integration patterns, re-architecting legacy systems, and improving observability.
  • Establish best practices for idempotency, retries, error handling, state management, API and webhook versioning, and workflow design.
  • Shape multi-quarter roadmaps with the Senior Director, Engineering Managers, and Product, contributing technical feasibility, sizing, and risk to prioritization.
  • Lead build-versus-buy evaluations and author architecture decision records and design documents that guide teams over multiple quarters.
  • Mentor engineers at all levels and serve as a senior interviewer to raise the hiring bar.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive benefits.
