Raytheon Space and Air division in El Segundo, CA is seeking a Principal Software Engineer [Embedded / Radar] to own the Tactical Software Operational Flight Program for APG-82(V)1/APG-82(V)x and lead the Tactical Software team.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience in embedded APG-82(V)1 software development, and coding in C/C++/ADA for APG-82(V)1 Tactical Radar Software.
  • Experience working on Linux, Windows, VxWorks, RTSecure, and Integrity
  • Experience working in an agile/scrum team hyper-collaborative team environment using typical agile oriented tool suite.
  • Experience with design, code, integration, and test of software into a large software baseline and large system
  • Experience working within Defense-contracting environments as this position will be participating in customer-meetings.
  • Active and transferable U.S. Government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Must possess program required "special access programs" (SAP/SAR) for consideration of employment.
  • Proven analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot tool and system performance issues.
  • Experience with large complex systems such as airborne radars.

Responsibilities

  • Provide architectural vision and technical design guidance for the Operational Flight Software for both the F-15 APG-82(V)x and Integrated REX Processor programs
  • Serve as the primary owner of the Tactical Operational Flight Software
  • Lead and mentor a team of experienced and junior engineers
  • Deliver clear technical direction, guidance, and prioritization for assigned tasks
  • Partner with the cross-discipline team to plan, prioritize, and manage backlog items for current and future sprints
  • Lead the design and development for the software necessary to support OMS GRA capabilities
  • Support cross-functional discussions on OFP technical details, long-term vision, and strategic direction
  • Apply strong investigation and troubleshooting skills to diagnose issues and develop effective solutions
  • Contribute effectively to program and customer meetings, technical reviews, and status discussions
  • Support program leadership in technical decision-making and problem resolution
  • Help ensure adherence to technical, cost, schedule, and quality objectives
  • Contribute to successful completion of program milestones and customer deliverables
