About The Position

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, driving innovation in cloud-native architecture and AI/ML integration. This role requires overseeing the full software development lifecycle across multiple teams, ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance. The team delivers robust platform capabilities focused on Data Services, Data Access Layer, and Data Security. It leads the full software development lifecycle using cloud-native architecture and model-driven design to build scalable, secure, and high-performing systems. By integrating AI agents and advanced technical solutions, the team supports millions of users while aligning with business objectives through cross-functional collaboration. Members contribute to continuous improvement by sharing knowledge, mentoring peers, and adopting innovative tools. Requirements

  • Extensive experience in platform engineering leadership, delivering scalable infrastructure and reusable tooling aligned with strategic roadmaps.
  • Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture and distributed system design ensuring high availability and fault tolerance.
  • Strong technical execution skills across software development lifecycle, including CI/CD, testing, monitoring, and incident response.
  • Proficiency in AI/ML integration and building intelligent software systems using languages such as Python, Java, and C++.
  • Ability to provide technical mentorship, influence architectural decisions, and promote engineering best practices.
  • Skilled in requirements analysis, solution design, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Effective collaboration and communication with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and joining us as we continue to create accessible products and services following Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture.
