About The Position

This role involves architecting and designing complex, scalable, and secure software solutions, setting technical direction for major initiatives, and ensuring alignment with enterprise standards. The engineer will drive innovation in test automation and software development strategies, introducing advanced frameworks and tools to improve quality and efficiency. Responsibilities include designing, implementing, and delivering complex features, contributing to architecture discussions, conducting high-level design and critical code reviews, and setting coding standards. The role ensures development and designs meet scalability, reliability, security, and performance requirements. It also involves providing technical leadership in API and cloud-based service integration, guiding CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices, identifying and mitigating risks, and performing critical code reviews and performance assessments. The engineer will translate business vision into technical solutions, analyze and recommend changes to development policies, and mentor junior team members.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing software/test automation using Java, J2EE, Cucumber Serenity, or Selenium automation frameworks.
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing software/test automation using Java, J2EE, Cucumber Serenity, or Selenium automation frameworks.
Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) designing and building enterprise applications within a financial services environment, using APIs and RESTful services.
DE adapting Spring boot micro-service architecture within large-scale services systems with Agile methodologies, using Java 8+ and J2EE technologies – Spring Boot, Maven, AWS Batch, Kubernetes, Oracle PL/SQL and Kafka.
DE building test automation frameworks, using Java and J2EE.
DE developing automated test scripts, using Cucumber Serenity, Selenium automation frameworks, JEST, and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
DE performing Web service testing, using RestAssured, ReadyAPI or Karate.
DE performing DevSecOps, automated testing, and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), using Concourse and Jenkins.
DE performing production installs, solving production issues, and supporting Production Apps -- monitoring Logs using Datadog, and validating Production install.

Responsibilities

Participates in architecture design teams.
Defines and implements application-level architecture.
Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
Plans and coordinates complex project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
Advises senior management on technical strategy.
Mentors junior team members.
Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
