Principal Software Engineer, Alexa Audio
About The Position
Want to transform the way people enjoy audio content such as music, radio, podcast, books and generative content on Alexa? Come join the team that leverages the power of AI, and integrations with audio content providers such as Amazon Music, Spotify, Apple, SiriusXM, Audible etc. to deliver delightful experiences for customers. Additionally, you will be working with latest developments in agentic AI to build and deliver industry first experiences. We are looking for a passionate, hard-working, and talented principal software engineer who has experience building innovative, mission critical, high volume applications that customers love. You will have an enormous opportunity to make a large impact on the design, architecture, and implementation of Alexa features that are used every day by people you know. As a Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for setting technical vision of how we build the software behind how music is enjoyed through Alexa. A successful candidate will have an established background in setting product, technical, and architectural vision on building technology that enriches the customer experience at scale. You will be acting in a functional manager role, providing overarching guidance on technical decision making and execution of initiatives across the Alexa Audio org spanning multiple countries and locations. You will be setting direction for the operational excellence within the organization. You will be responsible for advising the senior leadership on technology strategy, opportunities and risks.
Requirements
- 10+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- Knowledge of object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms
- Master's degree in computer science or equivalent
Nice To Haves
- Experience designing and building large-scale systems in a multi-tiered, distributed environment (Service Oriented Architecture)
- Experience with LLMs
- Experience in agentic development
Responsibilities
- Responsible for setting technical vision for Alexa Audio
- Provide deep technical and functional management support for matrixes teams on delivering delighters for customers
- Design and develop complex, interactive customer experiences.
- Advise senior leadership of technical opportunities and pitfalls to ensure long term rapid delivery of customer features.
- Lead and inspire teammates to raise the standards in the quality of the software they build.
