About The Position

PowerPlan is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to shape the reliability and reach of its cloud-based Data Hub, a platform that turns raw data into customer reporting. The role owns data pipelines end to end, from Databricks and Azure Data Factory ingestion through transformation to secure OData delivery, and establishes engineering standards across a complex, multi-repository codebase. This high-autonomy position spans application and data engineering. The engineer will work across both tracks and drive improvements across the platform, with success measured by improved pipeline reliability and observability, customer trust in their data, and peers adopting the role’s code review and production-readiness standards.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with Databricks and Azure Data Factory building medallion-style ingestion and transformation pipelines.
  • A track record of building reliability and observability into distributed systems, including health checks, data-quality gates, monitoring, and graceful failure handling.
  • Ability to reason through cross-repository dependencies in a Git-based, multi-repository environment.
  • High standards for code review, test strategy, and production readiness, with the credibility to hold peers to them.
  • Strong C# and ASP.NET Core skills, including OData service design, middleware, and dependency injection.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure and identity/token flows, including Entra ID, OAuth2/OIDC, and SSO, plus strong production SQL skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Accounting Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Typically 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with senior-level ownership of services, data platforms, enterprise applications, or cloud-hosted systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration for data pipeline deployment.
  • Exposure to GraphQL or API paradigms beyond OData.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering tools for code review or root-cause analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Build and operate Databricks and Azure Data Factory pipelines that move raw data through the medallion pattern into reliable, report-ready datasets.
  • Strengthen reliability and observability across the Data Hub pipeline so failures are caught before they reach customers.
  • Prioritize and resolve customer-facing problems, including long-running requests that cause large customers to time out.
  • Become a credible contributor across the application and data engineering tracks in a multi-repository architecture.
  • Establish and maintain standards for code review, test strategy, and production readiness across the codebase.
  • Design and maintain ASP.NET Core OData reporting services that deliver Data Hub data to customers, with identity and security as supporting work.
