About The Position

Hypertec is seeking a Principal Software Architect to join our Engineering team in Montreal. This role involves defining the overall software architecture for Hypertec's HPC & AI Cluster Management Platform, delivering an initial Minimum Viable Product (MVP), and designing a modular, scalable, secure, and highly available software architecture. The architect will establish architectural principles, technology standards, software frameworks, and design patterns, ensuring the platform remains extensible with APIs. Engagement with strategic customers to understand their operational workflows and translating market needs into scalable software capabilities are key aspects of this position.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• 10-15 years of experience developing complex enterprise or infrastructure products.
• Experience developing software for HPC & AI infrastructure, cloud platforms, or similar.
• Strong understanding of systems engineering, software architecture, and hardware/software integration.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Technical leadership experience in leading and mentoring teams directly.

Responsibilities

• Define the overall software architecture for Hypertec's HPC & AI Cluster Management Platform in collaboration with Product Management, Engineering, Sales, and Services group to understand market requirements and product priorities.
• Deliver an initial Minimum Viable Product (MVP) while working with technology partners, software vendors, and hardware suppliers to evaluate integration opportunities and emerging technologies.
• Design a modular, scalable, secure, and highly available software architecture capable of managing HPC & AI infrastructure.
• Establish architectural principles, technology standards, software frameworks, and design patterns to support future platform growth.
• Ensure the platform remains extensible APIs to support evolving hardware technologies, AI workloads, and customer requirements.
• Engage with strategic customers to understand operational workflows, deployment models, and industry-specific challenges.
• Translate customer and market needs into scalable software capabilities while maintaining a common platform architecture.
