Principal Site Reliability Engineer
About The Position
Wells Fargo’s EFT (Enterprise Functions Technology) Group is seeking a Principal Site Reliability Engineer in ERAFT (Enterprise Risk, Audit, and Finance Technology). ERAFT is an organization within EFT that delivers and supports critical technology platforms used by Risk, Audit, and Finance teams across the enterprise. This Principal Site Reliability Engineer will serve as a senior technical authority for AI-driven solutions, defining architecture, design standards, engineering practices, and delivery patterns for secure, resilient, scalable, and governed agentic AI systems. The role combines deep expertise in site reliability engineering, cloud-native development, and deployment engineering to ensure the availability, performance, observability, and operational excellence of enterprise AI platforms. The successful candidate will lead the design and implementation of AI-enabled platforms, drive automation and reliability initiatives, establish best practices for monitoring and incident management, and provide technical leadership for cloud-native technologies, container platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software engineering frameworks. This individual will partner closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative, highly available solutions that support business-critical operations while maintaining strong security, compliance, and governance standards.
Requirements
- 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 7+ years of software engineering experience utilizing Java, Python, C#, Go, or similar technologies
- 5+ years of experience designing and supporting enterprise observability, monitoring, and reliability solutions
- 3+ years of experience with cloud and cloud-native technologies
- 3+ years of experience implementing SRE practices, automation, incident management, and operational excellence capabilities
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Agentic AI, RAG, AI orchestration frameworks, prompt engineering, and AI governance
- Experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation
- Experience with observability technologies including Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, Elastic, DataDog, or AppDynamics
- Experience with AIOps, AI/ML, and intelligent automation solutions
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Responsibilities
- Serve as a senior technical authority for AI Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), AIOps, and enterprise platform reliability initiatives
- Act as an advisor to leadership, influencing architecture, engineering strategy, and technology decisions for highly complex business and technical challenges
- Lead the design and implementation of scalable, resilient, secure, and governed AI and platform engineering solutions
- Drive adoption of SRE principles, observability, monitoring, logging, synthetic monitoring, and chaos engineering practices across the enterprise
- Advance AIOps capabilities through automation, self-healing, intelligent operations, and AI/ML-driven solutions to improve reliability and operational efficiency
- Establish engineering standards, architecture patterns, and best practices for AI platforms, agentic AI solutions, observability, resiliency, and operational excellence
- Lead technical resolution of critical production issues, root cause analysis, blameless postmortems, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Design and guide enterprise AI capabilities including RAG platforms, agentic workflows, AI orchestration, reusable services, and workflow automation
- Provide hands-on technical leadership across cloud-native platforms, Kubernetes/OpenShift, APIs, CI/CD, automation, and modern software engineering practice
- Mentor senior engineers and technical leads through architecture reviews, design governance, reusable patterns, and engineering best practices
- Translate strategic business objectives and technology opportunities into scalable engineering roadmaps and solutions
- Maintain expertise in emerging technologies, AI, cloud, reliability engineering, and automation, recommending innovations that create business value
