About The Position

The Advanced Effector Guidance Systems team provides Electrical Systems Engineering to develop Guidance System and Flight Avionics solutions for products across the Raytheon portfolio. Our team develops missile Guidance and Flight Avionics Hardware. Our core electrical engineering responsibilities include architecture, analysis, requirements, integration, and test. Our core electrical engineering technologies include RF/RADAR, Navigation/IMU/GPS, Digital, and Power. We partner with several Electrical Product Team departments that provide the detailed design of our electrical products as well as missile level systems teams. The Advanced Effector Guidance Systems Team is searching for a Principal Sensor Calibration Lead with experience in radar systems and RF sensor calibration to support an advanced technologies development program with an aggressive timeline. You will own the calibration process and drive the development and implementation across the overall radar subsystem.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant flight avionics experience with electrical hardware development, sub-systems, systems engineering, requirement development and/or requirement validation.
  • An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience as follows: Master’s is equal to 2 years of experience, or a Ph.D. is equal to 4 years of experience.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Experience in developing RF electrical subsystems, radar hardware, or RF seeker architectures.
  • Experience in subsystem or systems engineering, requirement development, and validation.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong understanding of thermal, electrical, and microwave physics dependencies.
  • Hands-on experience with missile radar or RF seeker subsystems.
  • Background in detailed design, troubleshooting, and integration of radar/RF components.
  • Experience with systems engineering and architecture.
  • Experience working with missile systems or high-reliability products.
  • Knowledge of mixed-signal electronics.
  • Ability to manage cross-functional teams and drive suppliers.
  • Knowledge of DoD/DoW hardware development processes.
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).

Responsibilities

  • Own the radar subsystem calibration process, schedule, risk, and maturation strategy (including radome, RF sensor, and IMU)
  • Develop a deep technical understanding of the calibration process, tools, and requirements
  • Document the calibration process and its maturation via workflows and knowledge point plans
  • Work with multiple program teams and off program teams to calibrate seeker subsystems and verify the quality of the calibration process
  • Engage and collaborate with suppliers, design teams, and test teams/facilities.
  • Conduct technical peer reviews and serve as subject matter expert for radar/RF integration topics.
  • Support lab testing, field test events, and root-cause failure analysis for radar and RF subsystems.
