About The Position

A nationally recognized building-systems engineering consultancy is seeking a Principal/Senior Electrical Engineer to join its Los Angeles team. The firm delivers thoughtful, high-performance engineering solutions for complex buildings across healthcare, education, commercial, hospitality, transportation, retail, and other sectors. This is an opportunity for an accomplished electrical engineer to lead innovative design work, strengthen client relationships, guide developing professionals, and help deliver meaningful projects throughout Southern California and beyond. Relocation assistance may be considered for highly qualified candidates. The Principal/Senior Electrical Engineer will serve as a discipline leader across multiple MEP projects, taking ownership of electrical system design, technical quality, team guidance, and client service. The successful candidate will combine deep building-systems expertise with sound judgment, clear communication, and a collaborative approach to project delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
  • 10–15 years of experience with a consulting MEP practice.
  • Strong client-service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Complete understanding of applicable building codes and industry standards.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical design systems for complex building projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer licensure or equivalent experience.
  • LEED accreditation.
  • Experience using Autodesk Revit.
  • A collaborative leadership style and genuine interest in mentoring developing engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead innovative and technically complex electrical system design for a variety of building types.
  • Meet and consult with clients to understand project goals, communicate technical solutions, and build trusted relationships.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical support to junior electrical design staff.
  • Support project management and multidisciplinary coordination alongside MEP team leaders.
  • Coordinate electrical design requirements with architects, owners, contractors, consultants, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Help maintain project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and code-compliance expectations.
  • Review technical documentation and contribute to consistent quality-control practices across projects.
