About The Position

As a Principal Security Software Engineer, you will address complex security challenges across Apple’s datacenter and public cloud-based infrastructure and services. You will identify and resolve security issues across infrastructure, public cloud, applications, data stores, and platforms, and design secure, scalable architectures that protect services and customer data while enabling engineering teams to build quickly and confidently.

You will work with engineering, product, privacy, legal, and compliance teams to translate security requirements into practical, developer-friendly solutions that embed protection into systems from the ground up. You will identify approaches and tools that make secure-by-design the default path. You will also strengthen organizational security capabilities through mentorship, hands-on collaboration, and practical guidance. In response to emerging threats, you will analyze attack vectors, develop proactive defenses, and drive changes in platforms and services. The role combines deep technical expertise across cloud, network, and application security and data protection with cross-functional collaboration and technical leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of hands-on experience in security engineering, including expertise in one or more areas such as cloud security, network security, or application security.
• Expert knowledge of threat modeling, vulnerability management, security architecture, and secure coding practices.
• Deep expertise in AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Strong coding or scripting skills, such as Python, Go, or Java.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and DevSecOps practices.
• Familiarity with regulatory and compliance frameworks such as GDPR, PCI-DSS, and HIPAA.
• Proven ability to lead security strategy and mentor teams across functions, driving a security-focused culture.
