About The Position

The Principal Scientist II is responsible for developing novel ePTFE-based membrane platforms for various applications across semiconductor/aerospace/energy transition industries (targeted for liquid and gas separation and fine purification). This position is part of the Membrane Global R&D organization of Pall, located in Cortland, NY (Port Washington, NY can also be considered) and will be an on-site role. In this role, you will have the opportunity to Drive the organization for the New Product Development by delivering novel ePTFE-based membrane platforms for Liquid and Gas Purifications Develop the membrane technology (from a concept on-paper to pilot demonstration and MFG scale-up delivery) which meets the Voice of Customers. Apply know-how in the field of membrane science and leverage expertise in applications (eg. semiconductors) to customize the solution package to meet the Voice of Customers. Leverage the expertise in structural and fundamental material science and polymer engineering to develop knobs via processing-structure-property relationships of polymers, such as thermal-mechanical property, rheology, compounding, extrusion, calendering, lamination, biaxial orientation, functionalization technologies (chemical coating, plasma, Ebeam, Gamma, UV irradiation, etc). Leverage Open Innovation; collaborate internally and externally to develop technology platforms. Cross functional collaboration across internal customers (hardware design and cleaning) and partners (marketing and sales) for technological development.

Requirements

  • PhD in Material Science, Polmer Engineering, or Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum 8 years of Professional Experience; preferred in an industry segment of interest eg. semiconductor and/or aerospace
  • Familiarity with Semiconductor Industry (across various modules eg. Wet Etch or Dry Etch
  • Familiarity of using Semiconductor OEM tools using filters for liquid purification is highly desired.
  • Strong background in material synthesis, polymer processing and using analytical tools is preferred
  • Track record of publications, patents and invention disclosure is a must
  • Ability to travel – 15% Domestic for internal R&D visits and high priority customer interaction
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Must be a US Citizen
