About The Position

Revolution Medicines is a late-stage clinical oncology company developing novel targeted therapies for patients with RAS-addicted cancers. The company’s R&D pipeline comprises RAS(ON) inhibitors designed to suppress diverse oncogenic variants of RAS proteins. The company’s RAS(ON) inhibitors daraxonrasib (RMC-6236), a RAS(ON) multi-selective inhibitor; elironrasib (RMC-6291), a RAS(ON) G12C-selective inhibitor; zoldonrasib (RMC-9805), a RAS(ON) G12D-selective inhibitor; and RMC-5127, a RAS(ON) G12V-selective inhibitor, are currently in clinical development. As a new member of the Revolution Medicines team, you will join other outstanding professionals in a tireless commitment to patients with cancers harboring mutations in the RAS signaling pathway. The Opportunity: Revolution Medicines is seeking a scientifically talented and highly motivated individual to join our Integrated Discovery Research team as Principal Scientist, Head of Analytical Chemistry. In this role, you will drive analytical chemistry strategy and execution within the Medicinal Chemistry function, supporting drug discovery programs from early hit identification through lead optimization and candidate selection. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape analytical science at the frontiers of small molecule beyond Rule-of-Five (bRo5) drug discovery.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Analytical or Organic Chemistry (or related discipline) with 12+ years of industry experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in advanced analytical method development, troubleshooting, and problem-solving in small molecule drug discovery.
  • Strong hands-on experience with chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques, including LC/MS, HPLC, SFC, and NMR.
  • Proven experience supporting drug discovery programs across multiple modalities, including small molecules, peptides, and antibody–drug conjugates (ADCs).
  • Strong problem-solving skills with sound technically driven decision-making ability.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to drive cross-disciplinary partnerships.
  • A track record of innovation and execution in fast-paced, data-driven research environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting beyond Rule-of-Five (bRo5) medicinal chemistry, including macrocycles, covalent inhibitors, or other alternative modalities.
  • Ability to integrate analytical insights into medicinal chemistry decision-making.
  • Working knowledge of lab automation and high-throughput analytical techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Design and lead analytical chemistry strategies and daily operations to support small molecule drug discovery programs across multiple stages.
  • Develop and implement robust analytical methods (e.g., LC/MS, HPLC, SFC) for compound characterization, purity assessment (including chiral purity), and stability or reactivity studies (e.g. GSH assay).
  • Lead and execute compound purification (including chiral separations), structural elucidation, and physicochemical property assessment in the beyond Rule-of-Five chemical space.
  • Collaborate closely with medicinal chemists, process chemists, and DMPK scientists to develop and execute integrated analytical strategies; manage external analytical chemistry service providers to ensure high-quality, timely data delivery.
  • Mentor and develop a team of analytical chemists, fostering scientific excellence and professional development.
  • Design and implementation of discovery analytics, analytical data integration through collaboration with LabOS team, Data Sciences and Data Analytics functions to develop and implement automated high-throughput analytical methods that enhance efficiency and data quality.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards in laboratory operations.
  • Contribute to invention disclosures, patent filings, and external scientific publications as appropriate.
