About The Position
Parsons is looking for a highly experienced Principal Research Scientist to join our team! In this role you will get to work with other scientists and engineers to research and develop radiation transport models.
Requirements
- 20+ years of experience in scientific modeling and analysis
- Extensive research experience in atmospheric radiative transfer (thermal/optical), including peer-reviewed publications
- Expert knowledge of Monte Carlo atmospheric scattering models
- Ability to work independently and also work well with others in a team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ph.D. in engineering or scientific discipline
- An active Secret security clearance is required for this position.
Nice To Haves
- Experience coding in Fortran (both legacy and modern)
- Experience mentoring other scientists/engineers
Responsibilities
- Work with a team of scientists and engineers to improve and add new capabilities to atmospheric radiative transfer model for an advanced multi-physics model
- Document and present work to team members and others in the modeling community
- Keep current with new developments in numerical methods and advances in the field of radiative transfer and remote sensing
