About The Position

Medtronic is a global healthcare technology leader dedicated to improving lives through innovation. This Principal Reliability Engineer role is within the Neuroscience portfolio, specifically the Neurovascular Operating Unit. This unit develops advanced, minimally invasive endovascular technologies for treating acute ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, brain aneurysms, and other cerebrovascular conditions, utilizing catheters, stent retrievers, flow diversion, and embolization systems. The company emphasizes putting patients first, fostering professional growth, and cross-functional collaboration, requiring a minimum of 4 days a week onsite for in-person exchanges.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR PhD with 3 years relevant experience.
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Neurovascular or other vascular devices

Responsibilities

  • Develops, coordinates, and conducts technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design concepts and design of experiments (DOE) constructs.
  • Recommends design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product reliability.
  • Completes risk analyses for new designs and processes.
  • Compiles and analyzes performance reports and process control statistics; investigates and analyzes relevant variables potentially affecting product and processes.
  • Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards.
  • Analyzes preliminary plans and develops reliability engineering programs to achieve company, customer, and governmental agency reliability objectives.
  • May develop mathematical models to identify units, batches, or processes posing excessive failure risks.
  • As necessary, proposes changes in design or formulation to improve system and/or process reliability.
  • May determine units and/or batches requiring environmental testing and specify the minimum number of samples required to obtain statistically valid data.
