About The Position

EGS is seeking an experienced Principal Quality Assurance / Control Engineer to support quality assurance and quality control activities at the Savannah River Site. The selected candidate will provide technical and quality engineering expertise supporting complex activities within operations, maintenance, construction, industrial manufacturing, and related areas. The position will develop and implement quality programs and procedures, perform surveillances and assessments, evaluate subcontractor and supplier quality programs, support corrective actions, and provide technical leadership and guidance. A key requirement for this position is previous Mechanical and Welding inspection or surveillance experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline + 8-10 years of Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or Engineering experience in Operations, Maintenance, Construction, or Industrial Manufacturing.
  • Associate degree + 10-12 years of practical Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or Engineering experience in Operations, Maintenance, Construction, or Industrial Manufacturing.
  • High School Diploma + at least 16 years of multidisciplinary professional Quality Assurance or engineering-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility in an operations, maintenance, construction, or manufacturing environment.
  • Previous Mechanical and Welding inspection or surveillance experience.
  • Practical experience in one or more of the following: Quality Control Work Control Materials Management Civil/Structural Mechanical Maintenance Construction Related areas
  • Well-developed organizational and supervisory skills.
  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Ability to provide technical and quality guidance to other professionals.
  • Ability to evaluate quality programs and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ability to communicate quality objectives, results, and recommendations to customers, colleagues, management, and DOE personnel.
  • Must be able to perform weekly field walkdowns of the job site associated with engineering work.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Active DOE L or Q clearance within the past two years.
  • Current or previous Lead Auditor certification.
  • ASQC Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) credential.

Responsibilities

  • Define the scope of technical and quality engineering programs and develop effective solutions to unique or complex quality challenges.
  • Apply technical and quality engineering expertise to resolve complex problems.
  • Develop and implement QA programs and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with technical and quality assurance requirements within assigned facilities or program areas.
  • Apply advanced technical and quality engineering practices involving complex technical requirements, materials, processes, and coordination requirements.
  • Provide quality guidance and technical direction to less-senior professionals.
  • Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex quality and engineering issues.
  • Conduct surveillances, monitoring, assessments, and reviews to evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations based on evaluation results.
  • Identify and recommend improvements where existing procedures, methodologies, or technologies are inadequate.
  • Evaluate QA programs of major program participants, including subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Recommend corrective actions and redirect quality efforts when necessary.
  • Present findings to program/facility management and Site QA.
  • Communicate with DOE-SR personnel regarding QA Program and corrective-action status.
  • Perform quality activities requiring previous Mechanical and Welding inspection or surveillance experience.
  • Apply practical experience in areas such as: Quality Control Work Control Materials Management Civil/Structural Mechanical Maintenance Construction Related technical areas.
  • Provide QA expertise in support of facility startup and/or operations.
  • Serve on a Facility Review Board as required.
  • Conduct procurement, procedure, and work-package reviews.
  • Prepare plans addressing schedules, budgets, and personnel requirements for technical and quality engineering assignments.
  • Develop schedules and monitor progress and expenditures.
  • Review completed work to ensure technical and quality requirements have been satisfied.
  • Evaluate QA programs of subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Conduct periodic surveillance activities at supplier facilities.
  • Recommend corrective actions based on surveillance and assessment findings.
  • Perform weekly field walkdowns of the job site associated with engineering work.
