About The Position

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Principal Quality Control Engineer (Mechanical/Piping/Welding) opportunity to support the Savannah River Site. This role involves supervising and directing quality control engineers, providing quality control support to construction management, and ensuring adherence to quality requirements. The position requires establishing priorities, resolving complex problems, and providing leadership to inspire efficient performance and safe work habits. The Principal QC Engineer will also participate in contract discussions, prepare status reports, review and approve subcontractor quality procedures, and coordinate activities to ensure compliance with site specifications and standards. Additionally, the role includes preparing quality procedures and providing effective quality training programs.

Requirements

  • Well-developed organizational and supervisory skills and good communication talents.
  • Certification in areas of responsibility are required with ongoing programmatic training per the requirements of the project quality program.
  • Prior work experience working under an ASME NQA-1 quality program.
  • Prior DOE work experience.
  • Well-developed organizational skills with good communication skills.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Ability to obtain & maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Practical field experience in mechanical, piping, and welding quality control within the past 16 months.
  • An AWS CWI or prior SNT-TC-1A VT Level II certification.
  • Possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct quality control engineers assigned to perform inspections and surveillance in support of project work and/or maintenance activities.
  • Provide quality control support to construction management and direct personnel to implement quality requirements and to accurately status the results.
  • Establish priorities which support construction/operations needs.
  • Resolve complex problems which develop during the implementation of quality activities by coordinating with internal and external departments.
  • Provide leadership which inspires efficient performance of assignments, safe work habits, timely exchange of information and each individuals' commitment to site policies.
  • Participate in contract discussions relating to quality activities.
  • Prepare comprehensive status reports for construction quality activities.
  • Review and approve subcontractors quality procedures and monitor their adherence to those procedures.
  • Coordinate the activities of assigned quality control engineers and with other construction departments to ensure that construction is in compliance with site specifications and standards.
  • Prepare quality procedures to ensure proper inspection, testing and surveillance activities are being performed.
  • Provide effective quality training programs and ensure assigned personnel are qualified to perform assigned tasks.
