Our Boston office is currently looking to add a Principal Project Manager with experience in developing and implementing a variety of water/wastewater projects. You will be tasked with developing, executing, and managing water/wastewater infrastructure projects. We're looking for people who can function as role models and ambassadors for Mott MacDonald, articulating and representing the brand, vision, and value proposition internally and externally. Our Boston office supports a broad spectrum of public and private clients. This position may require temporary placement within the client’s offices to support management and implementation of their projects.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in civil, environmental, or mechanical engineering is required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Massachusetts, or the ability to obtain licensure through comity within six months, is required.
  • 15+ years of progressively responsible experience planning, designing, and delivering water, wastewater, stormwater, and capital improvement programs.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large, complex municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated success managing project financial performance, including profitability, resource planning, contract management, forecasting, and risk management.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships and serve as a trusted advisor to public and private sector clients.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and mentoring project managers, engineers, and technical professionals.
  • Strong understanding of project delivery, commercial management, contract administration, risk management, and project controls.
  • Demonstrated success leading business development efforts, including client engagement, capture planning, proposal development, interviews, and contract negotiations.
  • Experience managing project financial performance, staffing plans, schedules, budgets, and profitability metrics.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated experience presenting to executive leadership, boards, governing agencies, and public stakeholders.

  • PMP, DBIA, BCEE, or other relevant professional certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute work on wastewater, stormwater, and water utilities planning, design, and construction projects. Projects may include water distribution and treatment, wastewater collection and treatment, pipeline and pump station rehabilitation, and stormwater.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and senior client representative, developing and maintaining long-term relationships with key public and private sector clients.
  • Lead large and complex water, wastewater, and capital improvement programs from planning through design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Lead project teams in planning and/or designing engineering projects, supervising and coordinating several assignments simultaneously.
  • Establish and periodically review project scope, schedule, budget, staffing plans, and overall project performance.
  • Accountable for project financial performance, including profitability, forecasting, resource planning, contract management, and risk management.
  • Apply diversified knowledge of engineering/scientific principles/practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.
  • Lead strategic pursuits, proposal development, interviews, and capture planning activities to secure new work and expand relationships with existing clients.
  • Mentor, develop, and provide leadership to project managers, engineers, and technical staff to support project delivery excellence and long-term team growth.
  • Analysis of Capital Improvement Plans (CIP) regarding potential projects for further investigation.
