The Project Engineer Technical Export Focal serves as the primary engineering point of contact for international trade-related technical activities supporting global business pursuits and program execution. This role helps develop export strategies, prepares technical content for export license submissions, and partners with Global Trade Compliance to ensure program functions comply with applicable U.S. Government laws and regulations. The position works closely with engineering, program management, business development, and Global Trade Compliance to enable compliant execution of Direct Commercial Sales (DCS) and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) efforts. The Project Engineer Technical Export Focal serves as the primary engineering interface for international trade-related technical activities supporting Direct Commercial Sales (DCS) and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) pursuits and programs. In this role, the engineer ensures business objectives align with U.S. release policy and, when they do not, works with U.S. Government agencies and Global Trade Compliance to develop an appropriate export and releasability strategy. Works closely with the Global Trade Compliance office to support international growth while ensuring adherence to all applicable U.S. Government export regulations. The Project Engineer Technical Export Focal develops and authors key licensing artifacts in support of export license applications, including Technical Assistance Agreements (TAAs) and DSP-5 marketing licenses, and ensures these documents accurately reflect technical scope, constraints, and risk considerations in coordination with Global Trade Compliance. Partnering with Global Trade Compliance, this role partners closely with cross-functional stakeholders including Program Management, Business Development, Engineering, Operations, Security, Supply Chain, and Quality to ensure all technical data, hardware, and partner engagements comply with both regulatory and corporate requirements. The Project Engineer Technical Export Focal proactively identifies exportability issues, assesses technical risk, and recommends compliant paths forward to support proposal development, program timelines, and international customer interactions. The engineer in this position also manages key licensing schedules and dependencies, ensuring that export approvals are obtained in time to support program deliverables. They lead technical data reviews, coordinate approval cycles, and maintain meticulous oversight of licensing documentation throughout the lifecycle of each program. The role may involve direct engagement with U.S. Government agencies and international partners, representing the company’s technical posture in matters involving controlled information. The position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance and may include periodic domestic or international travel—typically up to 20%—to support program engagements, customer coordination, or compliance activities.
