About The Position

ReNuke Services is seeking a Principal Project Controls Scheduler for our client's site in Charlotte, NC. This role is an approximately 24-month assignment for project controls support of the energy storage and solar construction project teams. The role will support cost reporting & analysis for multiple project sites across the company's Carolinas and Florida service territory. Workers at this level have advanced analytical and technical cost-related project controls skills. They have an expert level understanding of Project Controls methodologies and discipline. They lead the development of the reporting systems and analysis for complex project controls assignments. Workers at this level are responsible for performing complex aspects of project forecasting, cost alignment to schedules, development of average unit costs, cost analysis, variance analysis, budgeting, basic accounting principles, trending and burn rates, change control and cost control while reporting up to program or portfolio levels with minimal to no supervision. They are able to identify problems and solutions for the organizations they support. They lead and coach other Cost Analysts and are critical to the professional development of Project Controls Specialists who rank lower on the Project Controls hierarchy. This position must be adept at picking up and using unfamiliar software and able to work with large data files. An advanced to expert level of experience in Excel is required for this role. Experience working in a PMO environment, on a project controls team or in a project management working environment is required. This position typically is assigned to projects classified as 'Green' or "Brown" per the Project Management Center of Excellence Project Profile Matrix, or may manage multiple smaller projects. This worker must have proven and successful experience working with multi-million dollar or high-risk projects. The Principal Project Controls Specialist may have relationships with individuals of varying levels in various organizations including the project team and external Suppliers/Vendors.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a four-year college or university - business, finance, project management, engineering, technical, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 9 years of project controls experience.
  • Minimum of 11 years of project controls experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Detailed knowledge and experience with various estimating techniques, for both cost and schedule
  • Detailed knowledge and experience with multiple cost management and control practices
  • Detailed knowledge and experience with Project Risk Management best practices
  • Detailed knowledge and experience with review and analysis of contractor and vendor performance
  • Detailed knowledge and experience with Duke Financial and cost management systems
  • Adept at picking up and using unfamiliar software
  • Able to work with large data files.
  • Advanced to expert level of experience in Excel is required for this role.
  • Experience working in a PMO environment, on a project controls team or in a project management working environment is required.
  • Proven and successful experience working with multi-million dollar or high-risk projects.

  • Risk management tools, RiskConnect, Monte Carlo/QRA analysis.
  • Ability to lead complex assignments

Responsibilities

  • Review and analysis of cost estimates, including estimate basis and qualifications.
  • Review of existing project status as provided by Duke Energy and its vendors.
  • Monitoring compliance with department requirements and Enterprise Policy and Standards.
  • Providing analysis and forecasting of project cost performance.
  • Assisting with forecasting project cost impacts.
  • Project risk quantification, analysis, and management
  • Updating project cost and risk information in Duke systems and tools
