Principal Programmer Analyst

NextEra Energy•Palm Beach, FL

About The Position

The role provides senior technical leadership for the Industrial IoT infrastructure supporting the Sequoia renewable-energy telemetry platform. The platform serves wind, solar, battery storage, and distributed generation facilities, processes more than 100 billion Industrial IoT events per day, and provides highly available data services for operational technology, enterprise analytics, AI, and business applications. The position leads design, operation, and continual improvement of Ignition, HiveMQ, and AWS infrastructure, and partners with Principal Engineers and teams across the Sequoia ecosystem to deliver a secure, resilient, and scalable platform. The position also ensures that solutions developed on domain-expert platforms align with application strategy and deliver high availability for complex, mission-critical, high-volume systems. Work includes writing, coding, testing, analyzing, configuring, debugging, and documenting software programs and applications, and supporting their integration into business processes and technical infrastructure. The role provides technical leadership, mentors engineers, establishes engineering standards, leads architecture decisions, and serves as a senior escalation point for complex platform challenges. The successful candidate will help improve platform reliability, scalability, security, and operational maturity through resilient architecture, automation, standardization, observability, and technical mentorship. The role supports 24x7 mission-critical production operations and includes attendance and storm-duty requirements, with the ability to work extended hours. NextEra Energy lists relocation as provided if applicable.
