About The Position

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Principal Program Systems Integration Engineer to join our team in El Segundo, CA. Due to security requirements, work is required to be on-site in a secure facility. The MILSATCOM Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (MSEIT) effort provides leading edge SE&I for the Space Force’s Space System Command. We support the Space Force’s acquisition of state-of-the-art MILSATCOM systems, providing secure global, survivable, and protected communications for our nation’s warfighters. We seek technical individuals who will thrive in a highly collaborative work environment of small teams, using the most modern tools and methodologies to tackle the challenges of integrating complex space and ground communications systems.

Requirements

  • Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance
  • MS in technical field, such as engineering and computer science.
  • 15+ years demonstrated work experience in Systems Engineering
  • 10+ years demonstrated work experience leading technical teams
  • Strong interpersonal skills, communication (oral and written), and presentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams)
  • Work is on-site in a secure facility due to customer security requirements

Nice To Haves

  • PhD in technical field, such as engineering, mathematics, physics, or computer science
  • Experience working with/on MILSATCOM programs;, such as AEHF, PTS, EPS, WGS, or FAB-T terminal programs
  • Experience working with military personnel and DoD civilians
  • Experience with ground and space systems, such as terminals and networks
  • Demonstrated strong Systems Engineering and Technical Leadership experience
  • Knowledge and experience in Agile Development and collaboration tools (Jira/Confluence)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement integration strategies and processes to successfully integrate satellite communication systems, segments (Ground, Space, Crypto, Terminals), subsystems, elements, and components; manage the technical baselines among different stakeholders
  • Perform analysis of the systems requirements that define the technical baseline and verification of the technical baseline
  • Apply Digital Engineering methods and modeling strategies (i.e. Digital twins) to support integration and test activities
  • Work with Government and contractor personnel to close gaps with customer requirements across the program; support major requirements reviews, design reviews, and other associated meetings
  • Lead and support Government/Contractor Working Group meetings—by developing briefings, leading discussion, and writing minutes—to address/resolve risks, issues, and action items
  • Review proposed changes to the technical baseline for impacts to enterprise capabilities and to cross-stakeholder integration concerns
  • Define and deliver alternative solutions to address different integration challenges; manage schedule impact and overall delivery of products
  • Facilitate review of contractor-developed program documents by performing technical assessments and providing comments, compiling other review team comments, and working with contractors to adjudicate the comments
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to assess technical issues and to prepare briefings to U.S. Space Force program office personnel and other stakeholders; provide courses of actions to support Government decisions
  • Support management of risks, issues, interdependencies, identifying schedule disconnects and conflicts, developing action plans for resolution, and assisting the Government in executing selected solutions
