About The Position

Building a new-to-world personal device is not a single act of invention — it is a symphony of multiple interdependent work streams spanning silicon, software, industrial design, operations, and a global network of strategic partners, all converging on a single ship date with zero margin for error. Someone has to see the whole board, coordinate the plays and the players, and make it all land. That someone is you. As Principal Technical Program Manager on the Personal Mobile Devices team, you will be the connective tissue across every discipline required to bring next-generation devices from concept to customers’ hands at scale. You will orchestrate complex, multi-year programs that span product, design, hardware engineering, software and AI, operations, supply chain, and external vendor and partner ecosystems — driving alignment, resolving dependencies, facilitating problem soling, managing risks, holding schedule, keeping stakeholders informed, and bringing key operating executives together to make decisions. You will be the linchpin ensuring flawless execution across organizations that may have different ways of working, but share a single mission, inventing, simplifying and delivering for customers at scale.

Requirements

  • A world-class program leader with years of deep experience in technical program management, including multiple cycles of delivering complex consumer hardware-software products from concept through mass production at global scale.
  • Battle-tested in multi-disciplinary execution — you have led programs that required tight coordination across hardware, software, operations, and supply chain, and you have the scars and the instincts to prove it.
  • Fluent across technical domains — you don’t need to design the antenna or write the device driver, but you understand enough about silicon, RF, thermal, mechanical, firmware, OS, and cloud services to ask the right questions, spot the real risks, and call out hand-waving when you see it.
  • Expert in external partner management — you have managed complex relationships with silicon vendors, ODMs/JDMs, contract manufacturers, and strategic technology partners across multiple geographies and time zones.
  • A master of operating at scale — you have delivered programs involving hundreds of engineers, dozens of work streams, and you know how to maintain clarity and accountability at that scale.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and chaos — you thrive when the plan is changing, the requirements are evolving, and the only certainty is the ship date; you bring order without waiting for permission.
  • A compelling communicator — you write crisp executive summaries, run efficient reviews, build or use AI tools to create clear dashboards, and can translate deep technical complexity into clear narratives for senior leadership; you know when to escalate and when to resolve.
  • 7+ years of technical product or program management experience
  • 10+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
  • 5+ years of software development experience
  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

Nice To Haves

  • 8+ years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience
  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end program execution for next-generation device programs — from early concept and architecture through EVT/DVT/PVT, software integration, regulatory certification, and mass production ramp.
  • Orchestrate across disciplines — serve as the single-threaded conductor connecting hardware engineering, software/AI, industrial design, operations, supply chain, quality, and customer experience teams into a coherent execution plan through launch.
  • Manage external partner and vendor relationships — work with the respective internal teams to drive alignment with strategic silicon partners, contract manufacturers, component suppliers, and technology licensors; hold external partners to the same bar of quality and urgency as internal teams.
  • Build and maintain the program architecture — define the master schedule, critical path, dependency maps, and risk registers that give leadership real-time visibility into program health and trade-off decisions.
  • Drive trade-off decisions at speed — when schedule, cost, quality, and feature scope collide (and they will), facilitate crisp decision-making with the right data, the right stakeholders, and the right urgency.
  • Identify and mitigate risks before they become crises — maintain a relentless focus on what can go wrong, pressure-test assumptions, and build contingency plans that keep programs on track when reality deviates from plan.
  • Influence without authority — earn the trust and respect of engineering leads, GMs, and external executives; drive accountability across teams you don’t manage through clarity, credibility, and force of will.
  • Raise the bar on program management craft — establish frameworks, mechanisms, and operating rhythms that scale across multiple concurrent programs and set the standard for how complex device programs are run.

Benefits

  • health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage)
  • 401(k) matching
  • paid time off
  • parental leave
  • sign-on payments
  • restricted stock units (RSUs)
