We are seeking a Principal Program Industrial Engineer to support program development and production activities within the Effectors portfolio in Tucson, AZ. In this role, you will help maximize factory throughput, improve efficiency, and deliver increasing value to our customers. Industrial Engineers at Raytheon lead improvements across labor performance, value stream/design optimization, capacity and manpower planning, factory layout, simulation, strategic planning, and more. Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Industrial Engineering or Systems Engineering or Manufacturing Degree.
  • The ability to obtain program specific clearances as needed.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree (MS, MBA) in engineering, operations, or management.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or high‑complexity manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM), scheduling tools, and proposal development.
  • Experience with digital factory tools, simulation, or advanced manufacturing technologies.
  • Demonstrated success leading lean transformations or production system improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct industrial engineering support to program teams across Raytheon factories and key suppliers.
  • Partners closely with factory‑embedded IEs, Strategic Business Unit teams, suppliers, and functional organizations to improve cost, quality, and schedule performance; identify strategic investment opportunities; and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Builds factory models using process flows, value stream maps, Pareto charts, spaghetti diagrams, and CAD-based layouts.
  • Analyzes manufacturing system performance to identify constraints, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Applies Lean and Six Sigma principles to optimize capacity, reduce waste, and achieve cost, quality, and schedule goals.
  • Contributes to strategic roadmaps focused on capacity growth, technology insertion, infrastructure upgrades, obsolescence mitigation, and future capabilities.
  • Supports proposals, business case development, supplier assessments, and Make/Buy/Where analyses.
  • Partners with project managers and factory teams to improve factory footprints, optimize layouts, and integrate new equipment or processes.
