Microsoft Commerce is making significant investments across Consumer, Merchant, Partner, and Payments in a market undergoing transformation due to agentic commerce and competition over governing protocols and payer models. This role is for a Principal Product Strategist, Commerce who will be responsible for the analytical and narrative foundation of Commerce strategy. This individual will analyze the agentic-commerce landscape and Microsoft's position within it, quantify opportunities, define strategic bets, and validate business models, ultimately articulating this strategy to stakeholders. As an individual contributor, this role acts as a force multiplier for the VP, establishing new strategic directions for pillar teams, maintaining a holistic view of Commerce, and making defensible decisions about what to focus on, who pays, why, the potential prize, and how to communicate it. The ideal candidate will possess a first-principles understanding of business models and market opportunities, bring structure to critical product decisions, and translate complex analysis into a clear, defensible narrative. Impact will be driven by the quality of thought and clarity of direction, not team size. The role encompasses strategy across the entire Commerce portfolio, including market and competitive strategy, monetization and business model design, opportunity sizing and forecasting, decision frameworks for major initiatives, cross-functional synthesis, and narrative development for senior stakeholder communication.
