About The Position

Fifth Third is establishing a new Agentic Engineering team within Technology, focusing on autonomous agents, multi-agent architectures, and the platform capabilities essential for their safe, observable, and production-ready deployment within a regulated financial institution. This role is for a Principal Product Owner who will be responsible for defining, prioritizing, and driving the delivery of the agentic platform. This includes owning the product roadmap for agent orchestration, guardrail enforcement, developer tooling, and enterprise integration. Reporting to the Director of Agentic Engineering, this position serves as the product counterpart to a highly technical engineering leadership team. The successful candidate will translate complex organizational needs into well-defined, buildable capabilities, ensuring incremental value delivery while adhering to enterprise governance, risk appetite, and architectural standards. This role is accountable for the value delivered by the Agile Release Train (ART), ensuring the team backlog aligns with stakeholder needs and organizational priorities. Key responsibilities include defining, developing, and leading the implementation of product roadmap deliverables, capabilities, and adoption strategies from initial ideation through production release.

  • 8–10+ years of product ownership, product management, or technical program leadership experience in technology organizations.
  • Experience working in SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) including PI Planning, ART ceremonies, backlog management, and value stream alignment.
  • Experience partnering with security, risk, compliance, and enterprise architecture stakeholders in regulated environments.
  • Solid product management background with strong presence and the ability to interact with and influence all levels of the organization.
  • Business acumen and understanding of how platform capabilities drive downstream business outcomes.
  • Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision while maintaining alignment with the Director of Agentic Engineering.

  • Inclusive leadership skills with the ability to promote a work environment that fosters creative thinking and innovation.
  • Strong consultative and well-articulated communication and writing skills with the ability to interact and influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Must be able to communicate ideas clearly — both verbally and in writing — to engineering, business, and executive stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience defining product strategies for systems that handle non-deterministic behavior and require guardrail enforcement.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt, Black Belt) desired.
  • Experience with cloud services in a product ownership capacity.
  • Background in developer experience, internal platform products, or API/SDK product management.
  • Familiarity with agent orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph), MCP (Model Context Protocol), or agent-to-agent (A2A) patterns.

Responsibilities

  • Define, develop, and lead the product roadmap for the Agentic Engineering platform, encompassing agent orchestration, safety controls, developer experience, and enterprise integration.
  • Translate ambiguous operational problems into scoped, buildable use cases with clear acceptance criteria and measurable outcomes.
  • Lead a continuous prioritization process to maximize total value, balance risk mitigation, and drive enterprise-wide adoption.
  • Establish annual goals, objectives, and outcomes for the platform, and track key performance indicators related to adoption, reliability, and engineering velocity.
  • Partner with Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, Software Engineering, and Data Science to define and execute product strategies.
  • Collaborate with Technology Peers, Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, Risk, and Governance to secure agreement, approval, and guidance on platform capabilities.
  • Provide transparency and ongoing communications to key technology and business stakeholders regarding roadmap progress, trade-offs, and delivery timelines.
  • Make decisions in complex situations to achieve key outcomes supporting regulatory and compliance needs, platform adoption, and enterprise-wide AI enablement.
  • Own the team backlog, prioritizing, articulating, and delivering new features from ideation through production release within SAFe / ART ceremonies.

  • Establish delivery patterns for experimentation, piloting, production release, measurement, and ongoing support of agentic systems.
  • Partner closely with the Director of Agentic Engineering to ensure alignment between product direction and technical architecture.
  • Solve problems and make decisions to support the team, focusing on driving the greatest outcome for the platform and the Bank.
  • Help teams across the organization transition from vague AI ideas to scoped, buildable, governed use cases enabled by the Agentic Engineering platform.
  • Maintain and provide product information to internal engineering consumers for training, documentation, and onboarding.
