Principal Product Manager, Agentic AI Infrastructure

DigitalOcean•Seattle, WA
•Hybrid

About The Position

DigitalOcean is hiring a Principal Product Manager to define and own the product strategy for managed agent infrastructure products. The role will shape products such as Action Gateway, Inference Router, and related services that help developers run, scale, and operate AI agents in the cloud. It offers the opportunity to build a new infrastructure product category for companies moving agents from prototypes into reliable production systems. The position combines product vision, customer discovery, technical partnership, developer experience, launch planning, and business ownership. The Principal Product Manager will work with agent-native companies and cross-functional teams to turn customer needs into product direction, define intuitive developer workflows, guide technical tradeoffs, and launch and grow agentic infrastructure services. The role is hybrid.

Requirements

  • Product leadership experience in infrastructure or developer platforms, such as cloud infrastructure, developer tools, ML platforms, runtime systems, workflow engines, security products, or API-first platforms.
  • Understanding of agentic AI systems, including tool use, code execution, context management, API calls, long-running sessions, and interactions with external systems.
  • Familiarity with cloud primitives such as containers, MicroVMs, sandboxing, identity and access management, stateful workloads, distributed systems, observability, and secure execution environments.
  • Ability to work with early, demanding customers and translate ambiguous feedback into clear product direction, roadmap priorities, and launchable capabilities.
  • Ability to reason across user experience, platform architecture, security, reliability, pricing, and operational complexity.
  • Understanding of developer needs for adopting a platform, including simple APIs, clear mental models, fast onboarding, trustworthy documentation, and straightforward products.
  • Business judgment to connect product investments to revenue, adoption, margin, differentiation, and long-term platform strategy.
  • Ability to align engineering, design, go-to-market, finance, legal, security, and executive stakeholders around product strategy.
  • Interest in building a category in an emerging market where product primitives are still being defined.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product vision, roadmap, and execution plan for DigitalOcean’s managed agent infrastructure products.
  • Lead product definition for services such as Action Gateway, Inference Router, and related developer experiences.
  • Work directly with companies building coding agents, productivity agents, workflow agents, and custom AI systems to understand their infrastructure needs.
  • Define simple product experiences for running long-lived agents, forking sessions, resuming work, attaching tools, managing credentials, safely executing code, and observing agent behavior.
  • Shape APIs, CLIs, documentation, examples, and workflows so developers can bring existing harnesses and agent frameworks to DigitalOcean with minimal friction.
  • Partner with engineering leaders on product requirements and architectural tradeoffs involving MicroVMs, sandboxing, tool execution, identity, state management, observability, security, and scale.
  • Work with go-to-market, finance, and engineering teams on packaging, pricing, beta programs, launch plans, and adoption motions.
  • Establish and drive product metrics for adoption, retention, usage, reliability, workload scale, gross margin, developer satisfaction, and revenue growth.
  • Evangelize the agent infrastructure category and explain how DigitalOcean’s products help developers build, test, deploy, and operate agents.

Benefits

  • Reimbursement for relevant conferences, training, and education.
  • Access to LinkedIn Learning courses.
  • Employee Assistance Program.

  • Flexible time off policy.
  • Potential bonus based on company and individual performance.
