Principal Product Manager - Monetization Product, Privacy

Microsoft•Redmond, WA
•$142,800 - $304,200•Hybrid

About The Position

The Microsoft AI Experiences (AIX) team owns how consent is captured and honored across Ads, Bing, Copilot, Edge, MSN, and other products, and how data for personalized and generic ads is collected and used in accordance with user choices. The Principal Product Manager will help build privacy products that support Microsoft's consumer monetization, including a consent management platform used across consumer surfaces and services that communicate user choices to systems that use them. The role also explores privacy-preserving approaches to collecting, exposing, and using data to enable ad measurement and personalization with less personal data. The position owns a defined portion of the privacy product roadmap end to end, from PRD through launch and iteration. The Product Manager works primarily with engineering, data science, and design to write requirements and run experiments; privacy reviews and assessments are handled with privacy, legal, and policy partners. The role involves developing ads and AI product intuition and balancing feature data needs with user expectations and regulatory requirements. AI Experiences employees who live within a 50-mile commute of a designated Microsoft Hub in the U.S. are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.

  • Experience shipping consumer or advertising products where privacy or consent requirements shaped product development, such as consent management platforms, identity, ad measurement, or personalization.
  • Working knowledge of privacy-enhancing technologies, including aggregation, differential privacy, clean rooms, on-device processing, and pseudonymization, and of how consent signals travel through an ad tech stack.
  • Familiarity with GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, the DMA, and IAB TCF and GPP, and how they affect product specifications.
  • Technical fluency with APIs, SDKs, data pipelines, and experimentation systems, and a track record of using experiment results to make product decisions.

  • Make privacy-correct implementation easy for partner teams through clean integrations and good defaults, and track adoption across product surfaces.
  • Work with privacy, legal, and policy partners to translate GDPR, ePrivacy, U.S. state privacy laws, the DMA, and IAB frameworks such as TCF and GPP into product and engineering requirements.
  • Keep partner teams in Ads, Copilot, Edge, and elsewhere informed about dependencies and dates.
