About The Position

Amazon's Device Software & Services organization (DS2) is the platform layer beneath every Kindle, Echo, Fire TV, and Fire Tablet sold worldwide, owning foundational services for device identity, registration, telemetry, and lifecycle management. The landscape is rapidly evolving with AI redefining customer interactions and user identity, and security architectures adapting to new threats and multi-account models. DS2 is tasked with defining the next generation of platform services to meet the changing needs of Amazon's entire device portfolio. As a Principal PMT on the DS2 team, you will be the strategic product leader connecting DS2's platform capabilities to measurable business outcomes across Amazon's largest device product lines. This high-visibility role involves defining identity product strategy with VP-level leaders, building insights pipelines to connect customer needs to DS2 prioritization, and owning the product vision for transforming the device customer support experience. You will lead cross-portfolio identity initiatives spanning over 20 partner teams, requiring influence without direct authority. This role operates in the whitespace between product lines and platform teams, focusing on areas no single team owns, at the intersection of platform architecture and customer experience, and involves decomposing ambiguous multi-year problems into crisp deliverables. You will work alongside a team of PMTs, engaging regularly with Principal Engineers, VP-level stakeholders, and cross-functional leaders.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in technical product management, with experience owning platform or infrastructure products (not just features on top of them).
  • Track record of influencing cross-org outcomes without direct authority. You've driven alignment across teams that don't report to you.
  • Deep comfort with ambiguity. You've taken a vague strategic mandate and turned it into a roadmap with measurable outcomes.
  • Analytical rigor. You build frameworks, not dashboards. You define the metrics that matter, not just report the ones that exist.
  • Technical fluency with APIs, distributed systems, and device/cloud architectures. You can hold your own in an architecture review and push back on technical tradeoffs with data.
  • 8+ years of product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
  • Experience with end to end product delivery
  • Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product
  • Experience technical product management

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with enterprise and/or consumer device systems is a strong plus.
  • Experience working directly with Engineers on product enhancements
  • Experience in project management methodologies, business analysis, or process improvement

Responsibilities

  • Define the identity product strategy DS2 drives with VP-level leaders across Echo, Fire TV, Kindle, Tablet, and eReader, translating platform investments into language product lines care about: customer reach, CX quality, and revenue impact.
  • Build the insights pipeline that connects product-line customer needs to DS2 prioritization. You'll own the success metrics, analytical frameworks, and mechanisms that ensure DS2 builds what matters most.
  • Own the product vision for transforming the device customer support experience, a space where DS2 platform gaps directly drive millions of customer contacts annually. You'll partner across security, CS, product lines, and engineering to close critical CX gaps through self-service, automation, and smarter platform primitives.
  • Lead cross-portfolio identity initiatives spanning 20+ partner teams across Amazon and require influence without direct authority.
