About The Position

Karat is seeking a Principal Product Manager to join their Product team, focusing on interview innovation. The Product team is dedicated to making interviews predictive, fair, and enjoyable, aiming to provide deeper value to various stakeholders including engineering and talent leaders, hiring managers, recruiters, candidates, and Interview Engineers. This role will own the product vision, strategy, and execution for the technical assessment and interview-innovation aspects of Karat's platform. The ideal candidate will leverage user empathy and product thinking to build experiences that adapt to rapid AI advancements in software development. Collaboration across engineering, content, design, and go-to-market teams will be crucial for delivering high-impact solutions that transform how companies evaluate technical talent.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of product management experience across B2B and B2C offerings.
  • Prior experience as a software developer is ideal.
  • Genuinely passionate about technology (actively codes for fun using modern, AI-assisted tools and stays hands-on with the evolving developer experience firsthand).
  • Demonstrated experience defining, launching, selling, and scaling successful products with measurable business impact.
  • Comfortable holding conversations with senior, highly technical leaders (CTOs, VPs of Engineering) at large enterprises about evaluating core software development fundamentals.
  • Excellent communication skills; able to translate complex technical concepts for diverse stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Track record of executive presentations: communicating business value and product strategy to gain executive buy-in.
  • Residing in one of the following U.S. states: FL, IL, MA, MO, OR, TX, and WA.

Responsibilities

  • Define the roadmap for AI-driven assessment and interview-innovation capabilities.
  • Evaluate how emerging AI techniques can strengthen the signal on a candidate's technical capabilities.
  • Shape Karat's point of view in the evolving technical assessment market.
  • Prioritize features based on customer needs and business objectives.
  • Partner with engineering, content, and UX to ship high-quality, technically credible solutions.
  • Analyze assessment data to improve accuracy.
  • Design experiments to test new interview and assessment approaches.
  • Use the database of candidate interviews to sharpen the signal on performance.
  • Track performance metrics and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Partner with Go-to-Market teams on expansion strategies.
  • Build compelling business cases for new offerings.

  • Base Salary (GeoLo 2): $216,000—$227,540.70 USD
  • Base Salary (GeoLo 3): $192,000—$202,258.40 USD
  • Base Salary (GeoLo 4): $168,000—$176,976.10 USD
